Every photographer has an "aha" moment, when light and scene and composition come together, often unexpectedly, and you realize the enormous possibilities photography holds for you. This one is mine. I woke early every morning during a weeklong vacation in North Myrtle Beach, a predominantly residential community north of its more hyped and crowded cousin to the south. The direction of the beach runs actually southwest to northeast, providing this perfect alignment of shoreline to sunrise. I had a Canon Rebel T3i on auto settings when the sky became inflamed behind North Myrtle's fishing pier. When I saw what I created, I knew a door had been opened to me and I had to pass through.
